Flowering the Easter Cross

Every Easter members and guests adorn a cross with fresh flowers transforming a symbol of death, darkness, pain, and hopelessness into something that is beautiful, new and alive in celebration of the Resurrection of Christ.

We are delighted that you're here!

Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church celebrates God’s all-inclusive love. In gratitude for that love, we act in ways to make God’s presence visible in our families, in the greater Kansas City community, and in the world.

Everything we are and everything we do is a celebration of the love we feel as God’s beloved children.

That means balloons and confetti on Easter. It means a live donkey and sheep in the sanctuary on Palm Sunday and Christmas. It is generous donations of money to feed children in Haiti and in Kansas City or to send our high school students to sing and to serve in places that need love and light.

Celebration means taking a clear and joyful stand for inclusion of all God’s children—and gladly bearing the consequences of saying aloud so all can hear that all—ALL –are made in God’s own image. Celebration is sometimes quiet meditation or personal prayers said in great hope or in quiet desperation for a better world.

We welcome new ideas and we welcome you.

In-Person and Online Worship

Worship is one of the most powerful ways we can express our love for God and our gratitude for God’s sustaining grace.

We worship at 9:30am in-person and online through Facebook and Zoom, with Christian Education time following at 10:45am.  For full guidelines and details about how our in-person worship works, CLICK HERE.

Sunday School

Our Adult Education Program will meet at 10:45am.  See bulletin for information on current study.

Our Youth gather each Sunday in the Youth Room which is in the lower level of our Education Wing at 10:45am.  See the weekly online announcements posted under the "Worship" tab for details and other activities.

Our 2’s and 3’s Preschool Class has a lesson of colorful Bible story page and is found on the GCPC Preschool Sunday School Stories Facebook page.  CLICK HERE to view the lessons.

Our 2nd – 5th Grades children meet each week from 9am – 9:45am on Zoom.  They learn Bible stories, sing with the Celebration choir, and learn about the mission work of our Mission Team.  In order to participate, parents will need to register with Rev. Sue at

Awakening to Worship, for children ages 4 through first grade, is offered through pre-recorded lessons. View these videos on our website here.

Large print bulletins and bibles and hearing-assist devices are available from the ushers upon request. Accessible parking is available near the entrance to the church and on the west end of parking lot. There is an elevator in the east wing that gives access to the lower level classrooms. If you have other special needs please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you.

(COVID-19 Update 2/24/2022)

The Session voted at the February 21 meeting to return to in-person worship on Sunday, February 27. (Sunday services will continue to be available online via Zoom and Facebook.) The Session also voted to implement a new guideline regarding the requirement of masks inside the GCPC facility. We will monitor metrics from the Johnson County Government and when COVID positivity rates are 8% or above, we will require masks inside the GCPC facility; when below 8%, masks will be optional. This same guideline applies to groups meeting in the church at other times of the week. We will include whether it is a mask-mandatory or mask-optional Sunday in the Worship Reminder e-mail sent each week on Thursday afternoons. We will also have signage posted and will note on the worship webpage each week, indicating whether masks are required or optional.  (Worship website pages found here.)

Please take a moment to review this flyer, which further explains our worship protocols. Thank you for your patience and support as we gradually return to a more "normal" worship experience at Grace Covenant.
