Worship - January 23, 2022

On January 23, 2022, Presbyterians are invited to center their worship services around the ways in which we are called into mutual support and ministry through per capita giving. Per capita connects Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) congregations and mid councils with the work of the wider church. As the primary source of OGA support, it is how Presbyterians mutually and equitably share the costs of moving the church forward in the 21st century.

3rd Sunday after Epiphany
Per Capita Sunday

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 12:12–31
Sermon:  “I'm In!” - Rev. Sue Trigger
Music:  Chancel Quartet; Chancel & Exaltation! Singers I “For Everyone Born,” arr. Tom Trenney (video)

Per capita is an annual per member apportionment assessed by the General Assembly (Book of Order, G-3.0106), and by many synods and presbyteries, to enable Presbyterians mutually and equitably to share the ecclesiastical and administrative costs of sustaining our witness to Christ through the Presbyterian Church (USA). As one expression of commitment to God, and to the larger faith community, congregations of all sizes are called to participate. In 2022, the amount requested from each member of a Heartland Presbytery congregation is $43.07.

(Effective 1/19/2022) - COVID-19 UPDATE

The Session recently made the decision to return to on-line only worship and education classes, due to the surge in COVID-19 cases in our community and in our membership. The plan was to do this through February 6, returning to in-person worship and education classes on February 13.  That remains the plan for now. We are, however, keeping a close eye on the latest developments in our community. The surge may not have its peak by early February and our plan will have to be adjusted. At this week’s Session meeting, we’ve agreed to review our timetable and make any necessary changes by January 29. That way we’ll be able to make an announcement at the annual meeting on January 30, which will be an on-line meeting following worship at 10:45am.  We’re especially thankful for the many people who have let us know if they test positive for COVID-19. It assists us in determining the impact the pandemic is having on our congregation. —Revs. Mitch & Sue Trigger
